Who is Gems TV?
GemsTV is an integrated manufacturer and television home shopping retailer of genuine coloured gemstone jewellery that specialises in manufacturing jewellery in exclusive handcrafted designs, selling directly to customers through a "reverse auction" system via television home shopping and the internet.
Employing more than 2,000 staff world-wide, GemsTV delivers exceptional value to customers by eliminating the need for multiple intermediaries through a vertical integration of the traditional gemstone and jewellery supply chain.
GemsTV is the United Kingdom's leading dedicated television home shopping retailer of coloured gemstone jewellery where we own and operate two dedicated jewellery home shopping TV channels that broadcast live on a Full Time Equivalent (FTE) basis to more than 12 million subscribers. In November 2006, GemsTV extended its TV shopping programs into the United States where we broadcast 24 hours a day to approximately 34 million FTE subscribers. In Japan, GemsTV started broadcasting its Japanese TV shopping channel to approximately 3.5 million FTE viewers in November 2007. In addition, GemsTV sells its products on the internet through www.GemsTV.com, www.GemsTV.co.uk, www.GemsTV.com.cn and www.Thaigem.com, as well as on third-party websites such as eBay.
GemsTV owns and operates four fully integrated jewellery production facilities in Chanthaburi, Thailand, which is located approximately 249 kilometres southeast of Thailand's capital Bangkok. Thailand is one of the world's leading centres for processing gemstones. Every piece of jewellery GemsTV manufacture is handcrafted by production-line artisans and jewellery specialists. Our gemstone experience and our market position in Chanthaburi enable us to acquire a wide variety of gemstones. We purchase gemstones that originate from over 45 different countries. In 2005 and 2006, we sold jewellery containing over 170 different gemstone varieties, including gemstones from the Beryl, Corundum, Garnet, Quartz, Topaz and Tourmaline families.
GemsTV was incorporated with limited liability in the Cayman Islands on 23 April 2001. Gems TV Holdings Limited, the holding company of the GemsTV Group, is listing on the Singapore Stock Exchange (GEMS SP).
